In Spain, about 50.11%[1] of people are cremated, so it's normal here to keep ashes at home, scatter them or share them out. A pendant is simply one of those shares. If you're not sure how much to set aside, remember that most pieces take a pinch or a teaspoon at most, so the decision about the rest of the ashes can wait.

Filling a memorial pendant isn't a regulated job in most places, Andalusia included, so ask a jeweler or crematory how they store and label a portion rather than assuming a rule covers it. A sealed bag with your pet's name on it, kept apart from other work, is a fair expectation. The public rules that do exist concern burial and scattering, summarized below.
From ashes to pendant in Malaga: the steps
- List everyone who might want something, including people who haven't asked yet but were close to your pet.
- Ask each person three things: necklace, ring or keyring; which metal they wear comfortably; and whether they'd like ashes, fur or only a print.
- Work out how far the ashes go. Once you know the number of pieces, the sharing planner works out how to divide them.

Can a provider from a neighbouring town collect from Malaga?
Usually yes. Marbella is about 29 miles away, Granada is about 55 miles away and Seville is about 98 miles away, all inside a normal collection radius. Get the mileage written into the quote so there is no surprise on the day.
Is cremation common in Spain?

Nobody publishes the same figure for pets, but in our experience pet choices in Malaga follow the human pattern closely, so cremation is the default most families here start from.
How do I get a small portion out of a sealed urn in Malaga?
Many urns open from the base, with screws or a sliding panel under a felt pad. Inside there's usually a plastic bag with a twist tie. Open it over a tray, lift out a spoonful with a dry teaspoon, then retie the bag and close the urn. If the urn is glued, or you'd rather not do it, the crematory that returned the ashes or a Malaga jeweler can usually help.
Can I wear cremation jewelry in the shower?
Better not, for most pieces. Hot water, soap and shampoo can weaken adhesive over time and leave a film in engraving. Solid glass and memorial diamonds cope, but clasps and chains still wear. Take the piece off, put it in the same small dish every time and put it back on once you're dry, so it never gets left on a basin edge.
How soon after cremation can I get a pendant filled in Malaga?
As soon as the ashes are home, which by our estimate is typically 3 to 14 days after cremation[9]. A ready-made pendant can be filled by a local jeweler that same afternoon. There's no need to hurry, though. Many people wait weeks or months, and the ashes don't change while they wait.
How do I fill a cremation pendant at home?
Work over a sheet of paper on a clear table. Unscrew the chamber, use the small funnel or straw from the kit to add a pinch of ash, tap gently to settle it, then add a drop of the supplied adhesive to the thread and screw it closed. Wipe off any excess and leave it to cure overnight before wearing.
