Cremation in California and wearing a little of your pet
Cremation accounts for around 70.5%[5] of deaths in California, so the local trade is busy: crematories, funeral suppliers and jewelers all see ashes regularly. For you, that means more choice and some competition on price. It's reasonable to get two quotes for filling and sealing and to ask to see a finished memorial piece the jeweler has made.

Heat, humidity and cold: caring for your piece in Alamo

Filling a memorial pendant isn't a regulated job in most places, California included, so ask a jeweler or crematory how they store and label a portion rather than assuming a rule covers it. A sealed bag with your pet's name on it, kept apart from other work, is a fair expectation. The public rules that do exist concern burial and scattering, summarized below.

Does the Alamo climate change what I should do first?
Only the timing. In July, with highs near 89°F, cool the body and book collection the same day. Winters here are mild enough that burial or scattering is possible in any month.
