How Bangkok owners get a memorial piece made
Many Bangkok families mark a pet's death with merit-making: offering food to monks, donating to a temple, or releasing fish or birds in the animal's name. Ashes may be kept at home in a small urn near a photo or a spirit shelf, placed at a temple, or released into a river. Choose what fits your family's beliefs; there's no single right way.
Bangkok draws people from every region of Thailand, and some families want a pet's ashes to go back to a home province or a family temple. If several relatives want to keep something, ask whether the ashes can be divided before they're returned. A memorial can also be an act rather than an object, such as feeding street animals or supporting a rescue in your pet's name.
Big metros like Bangkok tend to have at least one glass studio or hot shop that runs classes and takes private commissions, and some of them make memorial beads and pendants with a little ash fused inside. It's worth asking. A local glass artist can show you how ash looks against cobalt, amber or clear glass before you commit, and you may be allowed to watch the piece being made, which some families find unexpectedly comforting.

An ashes pendant holds only a pinch of cremated remains (the retailer says at most about a teaspoon; most pendants hold far less), and most come with a small funnel fill kit.

How Thailand feels about cremation, and what that means for jewelry
With about 80.0%[1] of people in Thailand choosing cremation, the local market for memorial products is well developed, and that includes jewelry. You'll likely find crematories and funeral suppliers with a range of pendants and rings, sometimes the very same designs they offer for people. Use that familiarity: staff can usually tell you which closures hold up and which come back loose.

Wearing ash jewelry through Bangkok's seasons
Climate affects rings more than pendants. Fingers swell in heat and shrink in cold, so if you're ordering a sealed ring in Bangkok, measure at the end of the day in a comfortable room and ask about a comfort-fit band. It's the single most common reason memorial rings get returned.

What pet cremation jewelry costs for Bangkok families
We haven't found reliable published prices for pet cremation jewelry from makers in Thailand, so the table shows the clearest ones we could verify from US, UK and Swiss makers. Most pieces fall in the $30–$300+[5] range in US dollars (per one large retailer), with memorial diamonds far above that. Local jewelers and pet funeral providers in Bangkok may offer pieces in their own packages, so ask what's included.
Rather than repeat the price table on every city page, we keep one for Thailand: Thailand costs. What each service includes is on the services page.

Wearing ashes is your call; the rest has rules in Thailand
One practical point matters before any jewelry decision: the cremation has to be individual if you want ashes back, since communal cremations don't return them. After that, Thailand leaves the ashes largely to you. What follows summarizes local scattering and burial points, useful because most of the ashes will still need a home once a pendant is filled.
A simple order checklist
- Take fur now, from somewhere hidden. A small clipping from the chest or under the collar, kept in a labeled envelope, keeps resin and some diamond options open for later.
- Make a print on a calm day. A pet-safe ink pad or a salt-dough impression gives an engraver something crisp to work from; a photo of the paw pad on a pale background is a decent backup.
- Tell your vet what you'd like. Ask them to note individual cremation with ashes returned and a teaspoon bagged separately, so nobody has to ask you on the hardest day.
- Browse without buying. Bookmark a few designs that appeal, note the chamber capacity and the metal, and leave anything that would be sealed or dated until later.
- Talk to the family quietly. Ask around about who might like a piece, so that when you request a portion it covers everyone.
- Keep it all in one folder. Fur, prints, the maker's details and the vet's notes together mean the order takes minutes when the time comes.
Sharing the memory with family
Space is tight in a Bangkok condo, so a memorial usually needs to be compact: a small urn beside a photo, a pendant or ring with a little ash, or a framed paw print. Families with a garden in the suburbs may prefer a plant or tree with a biodegradable urn. If you plan to release ashes in the Chao Phraya or the sea, ask about any rules for the spot first.

Questions people ask
How do Thailand attitudes to cremation compare?
Cremation Society of Great Britain, International Cremation Statistics 2023 (2023) puts the Thailand human cremation rate at about 80.0%[1]. We show it on the Bangkok page because pet aftercare choices tend to track it: where cremation is normal for people, communal and private pet cremation are both easy to find.
Can I wear ash jewelry through airport security?
Generally yes. A sealed pendant or ring is treated like any other jewelry and usually doesn't need declaring. If you're carrying a separate portion of loose ashes to a maker or a relative, keep it in a screen-friendly container in your carry-on and bring the cremation certificate. Rules vary by airline and country, so check before you fly.
What if my memorial pendant breaks or I lose it?
If it breaks, stop wearing it and put it in a small sealed bag straight away so no ash is lost. A jeweler can often replace a bail or clasp without opening the chamber. For peace of mind, keep a little spare ash in the urn so a replacement can be filled, and ask whether your home insurance covers jewelry.
How soon after cremation can I get a pendant filled in Bangkok?
As soon as the ashes are home, which by our estimate is typically 3 to 14 days after cremation[7]. A ready-made pendant can be filled by a local jeweler that same afternoon. There's no need to hurry, though. Many people wait weeks or months, and the ashes don't change while they wait.
Is cremation jewelry safe for children to wear?
For younger children, a piece with a sealed chamber and a breakaway cord is safer than a long chain, and a glass bead or a charm kept in a special box may be better still. Older children often love wearing a small pendant. Whatever you choose, make sure the screw is sealed with adhesive.
Is there a jeweler in Bangkok who will fill a cremation pendant?
In a city the size of Bangkok, usually yes. Independent jewelers, especially those who do repairs and engraving, are most likely to fill and seal a pendant, sometimes while you wait. Some charge a small fee, and a few prefer not to handle ashes. Pet crematories may also fill pieces they sell. Call ahead and ask whether they seal the screw permanently.
